Got some free time? Reading and Book Signing by Honor Moore Friday, May 16, 7:00 pm Free
Grace Church Van Vorst is pleased to welcome author Honor Moore, who will be signing copies and reading excerpts from her memoir "The Bishop's Daughter", which will be released on May 19. This church and its rectory were home to Ms. Moore's family when her father, Paul Moore, Jr. began his 50 years of ministry here in the 1950's. His work for social justice among the poor and needy of Jersey City is legendary. From 1972 - 1989 he served as the 13th Bishop of the Diocese of New York, where he continued to speak out against political and social issues, such as racism, homelessness, and inequality.
"THE BISHOP'S DAUGHTER is the private story - beautifully told- of a father and daughter struggling to understand their choices and each other. But it is also a deeply felt exploration of a life lived at the intersection of public and private, the epic story of a great bishop, a man whose work evokes the great American issues of the twentieth century: war, race, family, sexuality, and faith."
